Hi. This page is for you.

If a grown-up already told you it's okay to play PlayGM, they probably read a longer version of this. This one is for you.

We wrote this because your stuff is yours. You should know what we do with it.

What is your stuff?

Your stuff is:

That's it. We don't know your real name. We don't know where you live. We don't have your photo. We don't have your birthday.

What is Scout?

Scout is a computer helper, not a real person. Scout is good at sports stuff. Scout is not good at anything else.

Scout will not talk about:

If you tell Scout about any of those things, Scout will show you a card with people who can help, and Scout will tell your grown-up. That is because we care about you. It is not a punishment.

Scout gets things wrong sometimes. It's a computer.

What happens to the questions you ask Scout?

Nothing. We do not save them.

We keep a tiny note that says "someone asked Scout a sports question and Scout answered it," but we don't keep the question itself, and we don't keep the answer. That's it.

The camera and your cards

When you scan a real card with your camera, everything the camera sees stays on your phone or tablet. We don't get the picture. We only get the name of the card you scanned, like "Player number 217."

Who else sees your stuff?

Nobody who doesn't need to.

The companies that help us run the game — the one that keeps the game saved, the one that makes Scout answer, the one that sends emails to your grown-up — they only get what they need to do their job. They promise not to use your stuff for anything else, and we make them keep that promise in writing.

We never sell your stuff. We never let anyone use your stuff to sell things to you. There are no ads in PlayGM. Ever.

What can you do?

You can pause any time. If you want to stop playing, you can pause your own game. That doesn't tell your grown-up. It doesn't erase anything. You can come back whenever.

You can ask your grown-up to change stuff. If you want to change your name, or you want us to delete your stuff, or you want to see everything we have — ask a grown-up. Grown-ups can do those things. We keep the big buttons with them, because those choices are hard to undo.

If your grown-up asks us to delete your stuff, we wait 14 days first, so nobody can make a mistake. During those 14 days, you don't play. After 14 days, it's gone for good.

What if you stop playing for a while?

If nobody plays for 30 days, we let your grown-up know that the account is sleeping. We don't tell them why. That's private. We just say the account is sleeping.

If nobody plays for 2 years, we delete everything and start over. That's the rule.

What if your grown-up asks us to delete you?

Then we do. First we wait 14 days, in case they change their mind. During that time, you can't play. After 14 days, your name and your teams and your scores are gone. Really gone.

We also tell the other companies that help us run the game to delete their copy. That takes a little longer, but it happens.

Is any of this a trick?

No. We wrote this because we think you should know. If you don't understand something, ask a grown-up. If a grown-up doesn't understand something, they can email stefan@playgm.app and I'll answer.
